Kids and your wedding...Tips! from Orlando wedding photographer

I know there is PLENTY of info out there for all you brides planning a wedding, but one thing I don't see covered a lot is what to do with small children involved.

So, from articles I have read as well as my own experiences I thought I would share a few w/you.

1) Do have a dress rehearsal: A week before the wedding have your child wear the outfit for about an hour. You want them to feel comfortable on the big day. Let them move around and even dance to some music. You want them to fell as if they could wear this most anytime.

2) Use the web: Or magazines etc.. Show your child other wedding images or videos w/ children that are in a wedding. Use this to encourage them and not to be worried about walking.

3) If there is any concern that your child won't make it down the isle, have a bridesmaid help along the way or have a family member at the end of the isle coaxing them...Or if this fails bribe them with candy or toys...LOL, but it works with my son,EVERYTIME!

4) Have an older sibling dress up with them to see how easy & fun it is.

5) Practice walking with the ring pillow & use something to symbolize the rings. Although, the pillow is mainly for show as the best man will already have the rings (we hope).

this next one works w/my daughter EVERYTIME!.

Of course let them know there is a GREAT reward for doing this. What you ask?. How about their picture being taken by a photographer at the end. Okay that won't work, but you can try....LOL

Alicia & Jeff at Lego Land Downtown Disney

Like many of my clients that live outside of Orlando I met Alicia & Jeff for the 1st time on our engagement session which we scheduled at Downtown Disney. I try to find new and fun locations to shoot at constantly and what could be more fun then DTD.

Alicia & Jeff fit like 2 puzzle pieces, perfectly. Their smiles are infectious and their personalties are fun and up for anything. We met early to try an avoid the sun & heat, but that did not work. It was HOTTTT!. Even with that we managed to get some really cool (pun intended) images.

Getting married in Clearwater beach at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in September you will want to check back to see this incredible wedding.

Kelly & Cheritt Clearwater wedding

This is a beautiful story. Kelly & Cherrit have actually known each other from childhood. As time went on they moved apart and lost touch with each other until a few years ago when they saw each other after a very long time. And if I remember the story correctly, after Cheritt saw Kelly after all those years he was instantly attracted to Kelly. I must admit Cheritt is quite a guy w/ a great personality, so it's easy to understand why Kelly was "interested" in reconnecting. Take a look at Kelly's eyes and how can you not be taken in by her beauty.

they are to down to earth people who are committed to there faith & each other.

Thanks for the honor of photographing your wedding.

Jen & Keith Engagement session at Lake Buena Vista

This was the 1st time I had do an engagement session almost 100% inside due to our daily ran. But, it was no problem we had a great time and got some amazing images. Jen & Keith are getting married on 10/10/10 & I look forward to what we capture that day. The last 10mins the ran stopped and we got a few out doors.

Good times ahead.

What is the Origin of "Best Man"

This is kind fun. A few months back I blogged about where the myth about seeing each other before the marriage was bad luck. But as history showed, it has nothing to do with that.

Now I came across this & thought I would share it with you.:

A Best Man is really for the groom -he generally chooses his best man -usually a good friend.

The tradition of a best man has its origin with the Germanic Goths, when it was customary and preferable for a man to marry a woman from within his own community. When women came into short supply "locally," eligible bachelors would have to seek out and capture a bride from a neighboring community. As you might guess, this was not a one-person operation, and so the future bridegroom would be accompanied by a male companion who would help. Our custom of the best man is a throwback to that two-man, strong-armed tactic, for, of course the future groom would select only the best man he knew to come along for such an important task.

The role of the best man evolved. By 200 A.D. his task was still more than just safeguarding the ring. There remained a real threat that the bride's family would attempt to forcibly obtain her return, so the best man remained at the groom's side throughout the marriage ceremony, alert and well-armed. He continued his duties after the ceremony by standing guard as sentry outside the newlywed's home. Much of this is German folklore, but is not without written documentation and physical artifacts. We have records that indicate that beneath the altars of many churches of early peoples (the Huns, Goths, Visigoths, and Vandals) there lay an arsenal of clubs, knives, and spears. The indication is that these were there to protect the groom from possible attack by the bride's family in an attempt to recapture her

Stephanie & Lee Grand Bohemian Celebration Hotel

When I 1st spoke w/ Stephanie on the phone we hit it off pretty good and so we set our appointment while she was visiting family here in Florida & getting her wedding plans in order. Stephanie & Lee are a fantastic couple that are deeply in love. Both living in New York, they decided to get married at the Celebration Hotel in Orlando. I have done weddings here before and it aways amazes me how the same venue can look completely different for every wedding. That says a lot about the staff at the Bohemian Celebration hotel in Orlando.

These 2 great people who are fantastic people and it didn't hurt that they are great in front of the camera. Stephanie, has model looks & a cheerful personlity that just illuminate the camera. Her bridesmaids were all soooo beautiful and made sure that Stephanie was taken care of w/o anything to worry about. They were extremely attentive to her every need. It was really nice to see that. I would also say that Lee & his boys were some of the best dressed ever in their pinstriped suites and just in the moment & having a good time.

It was a beautiful night that I will remember for a very long time.

Until next time,
